This Month In Coaching Education

Welcome to the August 2013 edition of Coaching Corner, the bi-monthly newsletter written exclusively for Washington Youth Soccer coaches, by Washington Youth Soccer coaches. For new coaches, one of the most challenging things to teach is defensive positioning and technique. In this edition, Shannon Murray, Washington Youth Soccer's Director of Coaching Education and the Director of Youth Academies for Washington Rush, demonstrates how to teach both individual and team defensive techniques and strategies.

Good defending requires anticipation, positioning, communication and teamwork. These sample lesson plans can be printed and taken with you to the field to teach both Individual Defending and Defending as a Back Four with Goalkeeper. If you have any questions, please contact Washington Youth Soccer Director of Coaching Education, Shannon Murray, at
