October 2012

Washington Youth Soccer is proud to re-launch its exclusive newsletter designed to provide coaching insight and instruction for all levels of the game.

Called Coaches Corner, this newsletter – which will arrive in your inbox on the first of each month from September through June – is part of Washington Youth Soccer’s ongoing commitment to improving coaching education statewide. Including sample lesson plans appropriate to the season, links to coaching courses and more, Coaches Corner will be a valuable resource for new and experienced coaches alike, providing a rare glimpse into the training sessions of some of our state’s most accomplished youth coaches.

Each issue will be written by a different coach from a Washington Youth Soccer club – many of whom rank among the most respected youth soccer minds in the country.

This month, Seattle United Director of Coaching Jimmy McAlister and Alex Chursky – a former NASL Rookie of the Year and a holder of six caps with the U.S. National Team – provides a sample lesson plan for improving your team’s ball striking and finishing.
