TRAINING EXERCISES TO ASSIST IN COACHING YOUR TEAM TO EFFECTIVELY COUNTER ATTACK!

Warm Up: Players move the ball around in sequential order, upon the coaches’ call the player with the ball plays to GK, who then finds the next player in order. That player finds the next numbered player by playing them forward into space. Continue this process.

Primary Coaching Points

  • Visual cue of ball going to GK
  • Timing and angle of runs of both wide players
  • Distribution of GK

Phase 2: Players start with a 2v1 from the GK. The two red players find their teammates inside the grid; one of them supports the ball and enters the grid, leaving a 1v1 scenario behind. The white team wins possession and counters through their forward player. At least two other white team players must support the forward.
