Eastside FC Players Sweep NSCAA State High School Player of the Year Honors
About Eastside FC
Eastside FC is a premier soccer club of more than 50 teams competing at the highest level in Washington and throughout the United States. Eastside FC continues to win championships and produce collegiate level, national team and professional players. More importantly, Eastside FC is committed to developing young men and women of character. Eastside FC’s long-running success can be attributed to dedicated and professional coaches, a highly structured curriculum for player development and best-in-class facilities.
Two Eastside FC alums — Jordan Morris and Audrey Thomas — were named National High School Players of the Year for the state of Washington in 2012 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and were honored at the NSCAA banquet in January.
Each year, the NSCAA selects All-American teams at every level of play, including each division of the NCAA, junior college and high school. In addition, the organization chooses one boy and one girl from each state as the State High School Player of the Year.
Morris led Dan Strom’s Eastside FC 94 Red squad to a US Youth Soccer National League title and a third-place finish at the US Youth Soccer National Championships last year, and played for the Seattle Sounders Youth Academy in the fall of 2012. He was also named all-region and all-league after leading Mercer Island High School to the State finals in May of last year, and has signed a letter of intent to attend Stanford next fall.
Thomas, likewise, swept NSCAA and Gatorade State Player of the Year honors, hot on the heels of being named KingCo 4A MVP and All-Area by the Seattle Times in 2012. A senior at Issaquah High School — who she led to second place at state in 2012 — and a star for Eastside FC’s G94 Red team, she has made a commitment to attend Division III Williams College in Massachusetts.
"In my years of coaching I have rarely encountered the complete package like Audrey,” Issaquah Head Coach Tom Bunnell is quoted as having said. “From her skill to her leadership, she makes coaching fun for me and playing fun for her teammates. She is very deserving of any and all awards that come her way.”
Congratulations to each of these outstanding players!
