State Cup Schedules Released
It's that time again — time to start planning ahead for this year's Washington Youth Soccer State Cups!
Throughout the year, Washington Youth Soccer conducts four primary State Cup tournaments, each geared towards a different level of play.
The Sports Authority Washington Youth Soccer Recreational Cup is the top-level tournament for the recreational-level teams in the U11-U19 age groups. The tournament is conducted during the recreational season — fall — and concludes with semi-finals and finals at Starfire Sports in early December. Entry fees and specific dates and locations of early-round play are determined by each team's individual district. Click the link above to learn more.
The Chipotle Washington Youth Soccer Founders Cup is the state's primary tournament for developmental-level teams in the boys and girls U11-U19 age groups, including District and Association teams interested in improving their skills while acquiring a taste of State Championship competition. The Founders Cup is held in the winter season, from December-February, with semi-finals and finals Feb. 2-3 at Starfire Sports. For more information, click the link above.
The Washington Youth Soccer Challenge Cup is one of the state's two competitive-level tournaments, for U11-U19 boys and girls teams seeking to experience the thrill of State Championship competition in a more challenging setting. To accommodate more teams and levels of play, this year's Challenge Cup is being split into two divisions.
The First Division will include boys and girls teams in the U11-U19 age groups, and is open to any competitive-level team that did not reach the semi-finals of the US Youth Soccer Washington State Championships in the previous season (2012). The Challenge Cup Division 1 will be scheduled around high-school play for the various age groups:
U15-U19 Boys: Jan. 5-Feb. 10
In all cases, the semi-finals and finals will be played over two days on the last weekend of competition at Starfire Sports. Winning teams in the U13-U17 age groups will represent Washington at the 2013 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup, with the chance to compete for regional and national titles.
The Second Division will be open to U11-U14 teams only, and will serve as a bridge from the developmental-level Founders Cup and the more competitive Challenge Cup First Division. Games will be played from December through the first weekend in February, and champions will be crowned in semi-finals and finals play at Starfire Sports. There is no play beyond the State level for teams competing in the Second Division.

The US Youth Soccer Washington State Championships are the most competitive tournament in the state, each year featuring many skilled players who will go on to compete at the college, regional and even national levels. Open to boys and girls teams in the U12-U18 age groups, the Washington State Championships are played statewide throughout the winter and spring:
U15-U18 Boys: Jan. 5-Feb. 10
In addition to being crowned champions of Washington Youth Soccer's highest-level tournament, winning teams represent Washington at the 2013 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional, with the chance to advance further to the US Youth Soccer National Championships — the most prestigious youth soccer tournament in the United States.
