TOPSoccer Coaching Clinic Coming to Everett this Month!
TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is Washington Youth Soccer's program for players 4 years of age and older who have developmental and/or physical disabilities. The program is based on skill level, not age, and participants include players, coaches and buddies – volunteers who are paired with each player to assist with the game.
TOPSoccer creates an opportunity for players with disabilities to be part of the soccer community, where they grow emotionally and physically and where their families, coaches and buddies connect to share in the joy of playing soccer.
Over the course of this summer, Washington Youth Soccer will be conducting educational clinics around the state for coaches and buddies interested in participating in this incredibly rewarding program. Clinics will help individuals understand the role of the coach in TOPSoccer programs, the importance of player development and how to adapt activities to meet the needs of differently-abled players.
The first such session will be held at the Snohomish County Soccer Office in Everett on June 30, from 1-4 p.m. That course will be instructed by John Wedge, TOPSoccer Head Coach, and the cost is just $20 per participant. For complete registration information, click here to be directed to the TOPSoccer page at WashingtonYouthSoccer.org.
Clinics are also being scheduled for later in the summer in Vancouver, so check back soon for an updated schedule of TOPSoccer clinics in your area!
