U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo returned to Seattle this spring to star for the Sounders Women, alongside several U.S. Women’s National Team stars.
Washington Youth Soccer’s Hope Solo Leads U.S. In Defense of Olympic Gold
When the U.S. Women’s National Team takes to the field later this month for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, the squad will include several faces familiar to Seattle-area soccer fans — none more so than Richland native, Husky star and Washington Youth Soccer alum Hope Solo.
While Solo holds down the back line for Team USA, she’ll be joined by several other players who joined Solo in Seattle this spring to play for the Sounders Women — including forwards Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux, and midfielder Megan Rapinoe.
Northwest soccer fans will have plenty of chances to watch Team USA in their quest for a second-straight Olympic gold medal, starting with the team’s opening game against France on July 25 — a rematch of last year’s World Cup semifinal, won by Team USA on late goals by Morgan and Abby Wambach.
Don’t miss a minute of the action!
Note: Top two teams in each group advance to quarterfinals, plus two wildcards.
