Boys and Girls' Under-11 to Under-19 Teams Match Up in Thrilling State Cup Finals2011 Founders Cup comes to a close on whirlwind weekend at Starfire Sports Complex Two months of statewide competition in the Under-11 to Under-18 age groups came to a thrilling finish last weekend as the top teams from across the state met in semi-final and finals action of the 2011 Founders Cup Finals at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. This year's Founders Cup — the developmental-level state playoffs for District and Association teams aged U11-U18 — brought together teams from all corners of the state for two months of preliminary and elimination-round games that narrowed the fields down to the four teams per age group who gave their all on the Starfire pitch last weekend. This year was the first year the Perpetual Karl Grosch Trophy was awarded to the Girls Under 14 Founders Cup Champions – congratulations to the Mercer Island FC Islanders for receiving the trophy! As always, the success of last weekend's Founders Cup finals was made possible by the thousands of parents, coaches, administrators and volunteers across Washington who dedicate their time and efforts to improving opportunities for youth soccer players in our state. Washington Youth Soccer extends a sincere thank you to each and every of those individuals!
