Aberdeen's Deb Bergen Named Region IV Volunteer of the Year
Harbor Youth Soccer contributor up for US Youth Soccer National Volunteer of the Year honor to be presented Feb. 25 in Louisville
For two decades, Deb Bergen has played an integral role in the day-to-day operations of Harbor Youth Soccer Club in Grays Harbor, Wash. Throughout it all, Bergen never asked for any recognition — yet, as it will, the spotlight has deservingly been shone in her direction.
Bergen — who last spring was named Washington Youth Soccer's Volunteer of the Year — was named Region IV Volunteer of the Year in January, outshining an impressive group of state-level winners from the other 13 state associations that comprise Region IV.
That much-deserved recognition means that Bergen will be among the honored guests at this month's US Youth Awards Gala on Friday, Feb. 25 in Louisville, Ky., where the National Volunteer Of The Year will be selected from the four regional winners.
A former youth soccer parent, Bergen's involvement with Harbor Youth Soccer increased steadily throughout her children's playing years. She has managed the concession stand that benefits the club's scholarship fund, and coordinated with the local school district to find high school players willing to volunteer their time for the club. She has also served in several roles as a club administrator, and has been a significant influence on the club's steady growth and success over the last two decades.
Washington Youth Soccer is proud to be represented by Deb Bergen at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala. See the winners announced Feb. 25 by visiting usyouthsoccer.org.
