District 6 TOPSoccer Jamboree Brightens the Day For Spokane-area TOPSoccer Players, VolunteersWashington Youth Soccer District 6 TOPSoccer held a jamboree on Aug. 14, put on by our local Spokane TOPSoccer Committee and hosted by Spokane Soccer Club in conjunction with their Annual Northwest Cup in Spokane Valley. ![]() The jamboree offered our area’s TOPSoccer players the opportunity to play soccer on a full-size outdoor soccer field in a showcase atmosphere. Turnout from the local community was terrific, as each participant had at least two — and in some cases, three! — buddies to work with at each of the stations set up by the organizers. Each station challenged the players in a different way, including toppling a stack of clothes baskets with a well-placed kick, and dribbling through a miniature obstacle course. The biggest hit, however, was a huge parachute — the kids simply could not get enough of it.
![]() Most of all, the kids just enjoyed the opportunity to play this great game we have all come to love. The most enjoyment your District 6 Commissioner saw that day was not on the soccer field, but off on the sidelines, where 150-200 soccer players, parents, coaches and teams stood cheering these young players on. “This is what this game is all about,” I thought to myself. “These kids are just enjoying a sunny day on the regular soccer field kicking the ball around like the soccer players they see every day.” For those of you that sat there and cheered these kids on as if they were in the championship game, kudos to you all! I felt the event was huge success not only on the field, but off it as well. In closing, I would like to take this time to thank some people for their time putting on this event:
