President’s Cup State Champions Named
Eighteen recreational youth soccer teams from throughout the state of Washington were crowned champions of the 2009 Dairy Farmers of Washington President's Cup last month, capping an exciting month of competition in Washington Youth Soccer's largest recreational tournament.
The Dairy Farmers of Washington President's Cup is a fun-filled tournament for recreational teams in Washington Youth Soccer, the state's largest youth soccer organization. Everyone's A Winner at TOPSoccer President's Cup
By Marty Torres, TOPSoccer Chair
On Dec. 13, Washington Youth Soccer hosted the TOPSoccer President's Cup at Starfire Sports. Approximately 40 players from the 18 TOPSoccer programs across the state attended the Jamboree for exciting games, skill-station challenges and fun of all kinds. The Starfire Indoor fields were divided into three fields so that players could compete in games or test their skills at various activity stations at their own ability level.
Following the games, we held a Recognition Ceremony for the players, buddies, referees, coaches, parents and grandparents. Wow, it was such a blast! The ceremony also gave us a chance to thank everyone who has been so supportive of our program. We appreciate the efforts of the Washington Youth Soccer State Board, office staff Amy Wallsmith and Elizabeth Flannery, as well as Starfire Sports.
Thank you, too, to Jeff McIntyre from RuffNeck for the donation of soccer scarves to the TOPSoccer program, and to Mike Thompson from Transmark Cartage Services for suggesting the donation.
A special and heartfelt thank you also goes out to the State TOPSoccer Committee - Scott Sandygren, Alice Russell, Cathy Olivere, Pat Muir, Sue Pendt, John Wedge and Gary Martschinske. Their efforts have enabled the Washington Youth Soccer TOPSoccer program to flourish and have a positive impact on hundreds of families across our state.
For me, the best part was interacting with the players and watching them play. Coming together for a fun soccer day with our TOPSoccer families gives me great joy. Witnessing the smiles, laughter, physical ability and soccer-skill improvements, along with the players' socialization growth, proves just how much TOPSoccer means to our kids and families.
And, of course, they all enjoyed the cocoa and cookies, too!
