Tips from the Experts at Shutterfly for Creating Lasting Memories This Season

Every season, Washington Youth Soccer coaches, parents, grandparents and family members capture each and every moment on and off the field with their cameras - from goal scoring to team bonding and great saves by the keeper.

The challenge comes when you want to share your photos or see another teammate's great pictures of that winning goal or the season-end pizza party. Before you know it, the next season has started and you haven't been able to share or print your photos from last season.

We have a solution! This year, Shutterfly is introducing FREE Youth Sports Share Sites to all Washington Youth Soccer members. The Youth Sports Share Sites can be easily set up by any team parent or coach. Share Sites are private websites where all team fans can easily share their photos and create lasting photo keepsakes including photo books, calendars, mugs and collage posters.

The team of photo-sharing experts at Shutterfly sat down with Washington Youth Soccer to share their tips for creating a team share site.

Washington Youth Soccer: How can members get started and how long does the process take?

Shutterfly: Creation of a site simply requires signing up for a free Shutterfly account. Washington Youth Soccer members can start their site by visiting, and clicking on the link that says, "Create a team website."

From there, simply answer a few questions about your team, then use the easy, three-step wizard that will help create your team site. You will be up and running in minutes! Once a site is created, the "site owner" has the ability to edit and manage all the settings on the page, including layout, privacy settings, etc.

Washington Youth Soccer: The privacy and safety of our members is extremely important - what can our members do to make sure the privacy settings on their sites are effective?

Shutterfly: To begin with, all Youth Sports Share sites are defaulted to be private sites when they are set up. This means that the site owner must invite other parents to the site, and those parents will have to log in to view and use any of the site features.

Invited members can log into a Youth Sports Share site with their Shutterfly username and password - if they don't have a Shutterfly account, they can create one for free in just a matter of minutes. Additionally, site owners can choose to put an additional password of their choice on the site if they want to create even more security.

Washington Youth Soccer: Once our members have their Youth Sports Share Site up and running, what are they able to do with their photos?

Shutterfly: Shutterfly's Youth Sports Share Sites enable all of the invited members to upload and share photos and videos from the season. Once the photos and videos are uploaded, members have infinite options on how to view and record them. Some ideas include:

  • Once uploaded, photos can be viewed one by one, as an album, or in a slide show.
  • Share Sites allow members to share information other than just photos, including game calendars. If a calendar is created, the site will automatically create a photo album for each game on the calendar, providing an automatic, organized place for members to upload their pictures.
  • Members can order prints or create photo gifts such as photo books, collage posters, calendars or mugs, from any of the photos that have been uploaded to the Share site.
  • Members can create their own, personalized photo books with creative layouts, backgrounds and text. However, if you are short on time, Shutterfly's new "Simple Path" feature will automatically create a beautiful ready-made photo book from the albums on your Share site.
